One of the best things about living in Maryland is that there are, by my count, 108 National Park Service properties/monuments/sites/etc. within a 100 miles or so of my house. (I’ve been to 38 of them.) It makes planning the weekends a joy because there is always somewhere interesting and beautiful to go, and with any luck somewhere not overwhelmed with tourists. And yesterday on the first 90 degree day, I ventured south to Thomas Stone Historical site and worked myself up through Fort Washington and Fort Foote. Beautiful summer heat, and some of the quieter parks in the area.
