Songs that we heard as our guards came down

Such an excellent show by Brian Fallon & Dave Hause on Friday night. I’ve already seen two great reviews of thee show: one by A. (who was also excellent company at the show) and another here.
Beautiful to see the songs stripped down and amazing to see such a diversity of covers: Dave Hause covered Kathleen Edwards’ “The Cheapest Key” in his set, Brain Fallon covered CCR’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” in his, and then for an encore they both got on stage and played a five song cover set (Tegan and Sara’s “Call It Off,” June Carter Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” Patty Griffin’s “Long Ride Home,” Social Distortion’s “Ball & Chain,” and The Bouncing Souls’ “Gone”).
The Patty Griffin cover, in particular, was so unexpected and worked better than I could have imagined. YouTube on the song.

Stunning.

If all the shows I go to in 2010 hold to the standard set by this, first, one then it’ll be a heck of a year for live music.
