Baked Chicken & Broccoli Rigatoni

This started with this recipe.
But I seem to have an inability to cook something exactly as written, and also I wanted to add broccoli to give it a green veggie.

6 tablespoons butter, plus more for baking dishes
1 pound rigatoni (or penne, or whatever is handy)
5 chicken thighs
1/2 cup plus a bit flour
6 garlic cloves, minced
6 cups whole milk
8 ounces white or cremini mushrooms, chopped
2 crowns of broccoli, chopped
1 1/2 cups cheddar, grated
1 1/2 cup parmesan, grateed
salt and pepper

Boil pasta, to just before al dente. Cut & salt and pepper chicken, cook. Remove chicken from pan, add broccoli, cook a few minutes then and mushrooms, saute. In the pot the pasta was in melt butter, add garlic, make a roux. Add milk slowly. Allow sauce to thicken. Add in mushrooms, broccoli, chicken, pasta, all the cheddar, and a bit of the parmesan. Grease baking dish. Pour mixture into dish. Add parmesan to top. Bake on 400 for 25 minutes. Enjoy.
