Best Shots of 2010: 6-10

Jason Kutchma, Red Collar, Trotter Building, Troika, Durham, NC, 11/05/10
Sony a350, 50mm cropped in camera, 800iso, f/1.4, 1/13
I took an approx ton of photos of Red Collar a/o Jason Kutchma this year. This is the photo I keep coming back to. If you’ve never been to a Red Collar show, this photo is what one feels like.

NC State Fair, Raleigh NC, 10/23/10

Bright Lights, NC State Fair, Raleigh, NC, 10/23/10
Sony a350, 50mm fixed, 400iso, f/10, 1/4
I love everything about this, the angle of the ride, the fact that it was taken from a Ferris Wheel, the way the blur works while still being sharp.

The Casting Out, Devines, Durham, 08/10/10

Nathan Gray, The Casting Out, Devines, Durham, NC, 08/10/10
Sony a350, 50mm fixed, 1600iso, f/1.4, 1/30
The angle really makes this here. I’ve talked about this show already this week, but it was great to be on eye level here. Nathan Gray crouched down and smiling; there weren’t alot of still moments in this show, I’m glad I found this one.

Superchunk, Nasher Museum, Durham, NC, 09/16/10

Laura Ballance, Superchunk, Nasher Museum, Durham, NC, 09/16/10
Sony a350, 50mm fixed, 400iso, f/1.4, 1/30
Things I love: women in rock bands, hands, empty space in photos.

Big Star's Third, Cat's Cradle, Carrboro NC, 12/10/10

Big Star’s Third, Cat’s Cradle, Carrboro, NC, 12/10/10
Sony a350, 50mm fixed, 800iso, f/1.6, 1/80
I love all the little moments in a show that people don’t usually notice: flotsam on the stage, overlapping wires, etc. In the concert poster and program on the stage here, I can feel the anticipation we all had for this show to begin.
